Julie's Childminding

OFSTED Registered Childminder in Aylesford, Kent

Activities

I have a large, safe garden with a 12ft trampoline (with safety net), a swing, slides, a variety of bikes and trikes.

Inside, I have a wide range of toys, books, Arts and Crafts, Dressing up costumes and lots of other activities for boys and girls of all ages.

I regularly attend local childminding and playgroups as well as visits to soft ball play centres, parks, museums, Leeds Castle and the Zoo.

Activities are planned in line with the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) as outlined below:

1. Communication and language development

I encourage the children to express themselves and describe how they feel in order to develop their  confidence and skills and to speak and listen in a range of situations.

2. Physical development

I promote healthy eating and encourage exercise through outdoor play and park visits

3. Personal, social and emotional development

I encourage the children to form positive relationships with other children and to respect others. I also  help them to understand appropriate behaviour in groups and to have confidence in their own abilities.

4. Literacy development

I have a wide range of books and games for all ages and use these to encourage them to link sounds and letters and to encourage reading

5. Mathematics
I help the children in understanding numbers and shapes in an enjoyable way, through a variety of books and toys

6. Understanding the world
Whenever possible, I help the children in making sense of the outside world by taking the children on days out to local parks, museums, playgroups, Leeds castle and the zoo and by discussing our experiences together.

7. Expressive arts and design
As well as providing a variety of Arts and Crafts activities I also encourage the children to express themselves through various dressing up and role play (I have a box full of various dressing up
costumes!)
